Bio:
Three-year starter who earned First Team All-MVFC honors in 2016 as well as First Team All-America honors from Walter Camp and the AFCA. Was awarded Third Team All-America honors from AP in addition to First Team All-MVFC honors as a junior. Received an invite to the Shrine Game.
Pos:
Large, nasty blocker with next-level strength. Quick off the snap, squares into defenders and easily turns them from the line to open up running lanes. Explosive at the point, keeps his hands active throughout the action and shows terrific blocking vision. Keeps his head on a swivel and works well with linemates. Consistently anchors in pass protection.
Neg:
Lacks footwork in space and lateral blocking range. Ineffective blocking in motion or when used far from the line of scrimmage. Really doesn’t finish blocks.
Analysis:
Johnson has next-level size and the disposition that could help him make a practice squad and eventually find a home on an active roster as a backup.
