Pos:
Massive tight-end prospect who looks like a power forward on the football field. Strong, works blocking assignments and easily takes defenders from the action. Quickly gets off the snap, fires out to the second level and consistently plays with exceptional leverage. Displays good blocking vision, keeps his feet moving and works his hands. Plays with outstanding body control for such a big tight end. Quickly releases off the line, immediately gets to top speed and runs solid pass routes. Displays good hand-eye coordination, uses his frame to shield away defenders and generally snatches the ball away from his frame with his hands.
Neg:
Stiff. Not a true downfield threat. Most effective as a short or intermediate target.
Analysis:
Gentry is more of a traditional tight end who excels as a blocker as well as a pass catcher but won’t consistently stretch the seam. He's a bit scheme-specific, but if allowed to develop and put in the proper system, Gentry could ultimately start at the next level.
