Bio:
Three-year starter at right tackle who earned First Team All-Pac-12 in both 2015 and 2016. Made two starts at left tackle as a junior. Sidelined for most of 2013 after having surgery on both hips.
Pos:
Huge offensive line prospect who needs a lot of work on his overall game. Fires off the snap, stays square and keeps his feet and hands active throughout the action. Strong, blocks with good lean and easily controls opponents once engaged at the point of attack. Massive, easily blocks down on defenders and smothers them from the action. Drives opponents off the ball and gets movement run blocking.
Neg:
Does not always play like a big man and gets pushed back into the pocket in pass protection. Gets tall as the play proceeds. Haphazard in his movements, can be all over the place and lacks balance. Exploited by speed rushers.
Analysis:
Banner was a durable lineman at USC and possesses next-level size while flashing ability as well as athleticism. He’s a size prospect who needs a lot of work on his overall game, but if the light goes on he could eventually find a starting role at right tackle or guard.
