Bio:
Three-year starter who earned First Team All-SEC honors in 2016 and 2017. Played his junior season at center after starting 11 games at left guard as a sophomore. Made 11 starts at right guard and one at left guard as a redshirt freshman.
Pos:
Fundamentally sound center with the ability to block in motion. Bends his knees and plays with proper pad level. Displays agility and adjusts to defenders to knock them from their angles of attack. Effective with his hands, stays square and effectively seals defenders from the action. Fires off the snap and shows quickness out to the second level and fluidity if asked to pull across the line of scrimmage. Keeps his head on a swivel, displays outstanding vision and works well with teammates.
Neg:
Struggles to finish blocks and must improve his lower-body strength. Looked marginally athletic during combine workouts.
Analysis:
Clapp displayed a solid game at LSU and comes with size and growth potential. He’s more athletic than his testing numbers would lead one to believe but must improve his playing strength to have a career at the next level.
