Since the final game of the regular season when Auburn fell to interstate rival Alabama, there has been much speculation as to what the future holds for Jarrett Stidham. Here’s what sources have told me since last week.

There has been a question as to whether Stidham would return to Auburn, enter the draft or go the graduate transfer route and move to another program.

Multiple sources informed me last week Stidham is heavily leaning towards entering the draft, with a few telling me the decision has been made and the quarterback is on his way to the NFL.

I’m told the situation at Auburn is a bit confused at present time; in fact, the team just fired their offensive coordinator today. Many question how much Stidham’s game will progress returning to the school. Considering he started his college career at Baylor then transferred to McLennan Community College before finally landing at Auburn, moving to another college may not be in his best interest.

I expressed my fondness for Stidham during my Auburn scouting preview before the season and graded him as a second-round choice while mentioning a move into the first round was possible. The latter won’t happen, as Stidham’s game never progressed in 2018 and he struggled for a variety of reasons, namely his supporting cast and a question as to whether he was a good fit for the Auburn system.

I still believe Stidham will be a solid second-day choice and has starting potential at the next level if properly developed. He possesses the physical skills to play with the first team in the NFL, and Stidham generally makes good decisions in the pocket.

Stidham received his undergraduate degree last May* and would be eligible to participate in the Senior Bowl in January. When looking at the composition of the senior class of quarterbacks in addition to the fact he played for Auburn, it would make perfect sense for Stidham to receive an invitation to participate in Mobile if he’s eligible. If he does receive an invitation, I hope he accepts; Stidham should flourish during Senior Bowl practices, which would help his draft stock.
