Bio:
Four-year starter who earned Second Team All-South Atlantic Conference honors and set a Limestone single-season record with 849 receiving yards on 49 receptions while scoring three touchdowns in 2017. Caught 44 passes for 709 yards and four scores as a junior. Made 32 receptions for 418 yards and four TDs in 2015. Made six starts as a true freshman and posted 28 catches for 395 yards.
Pos:
Dominant small-school receiver with average size and speed for the next level. Fluidly releases off the line of scrimmage, immediately gets to top speed and uses his hands to separate from defenders. Tracks the pass in the air, effectively times his receptions and makes difficult catches in a crowd. Stays low out of breaks, lays out for difficult catches and consistently wins out for contested receptions. Extends his hands to offer the quarterback a target and makes receptions away from his frame. Effectively makes difficult over-the-shoulder receptions downfield. Keeps plays in bounds after the catch. Gives effort blocking and gets results.
Neg:
One-speed receiver and does not play to his forty time. Slows into routes.
Analysis:
Smith dominated on the small-school level but lacks the size to be a true possession receiver and comes with marginal playing speed despite the 4.35s forty he ran at pro day. He could make a roster as a fifth receiver if he shows return skills this summer.
