Bio:
Two-year starter named Honorable Mention All-Big 12 in 2016 after making 51 tackles (13 for loss) with seven sacks and two forced fumbles. Recorded 48 tackles (8.5 for loss) and five sacks as a sophomore in 2015.
Pos:
Explosive interior tackle coming off a terrific junior campaign. Fires off the snap with a tremendous first step, shows quickness in all his actions and keeps his feet moving. Gets a lot of momentum going up the field and displays strength in his upper body and the ability to toss blockers aside. Effective with his hands, displays a variety of moves and finds ways to defeat blocks.
Neg:
Does not play with leverage, consistently gets tall and makes himself an easy target for opponents. Struggles getting off blocks once engaged at the point. More of a short-area tackle and marginally effective when asked to twist or stunt.
Analysis:
Taylor comes off a tremendous junior campaign and possesses the size to line up as a conventional tackle but must learn to play with proper pad level and leverage if he wants a career in the NFL.
