Bio:
Two-year starter who earned First Team All-Pac-12 honors and led USC with 13 pass breakups while adding 75 tackles (11.5 for loss), 9.5 sacks and one interception in 2017 and earning an invitation to the Senior Bowl. Recorded 53 tackles (7.5 for loss), three sacks, one forced fumble and five PBUs as a junior. Posted 31 tackles in 2015.
Pos:
Terrific three-down linebacker who gets the most from his ability. Instinctive, plays heads-up football and remains disciplined with assignments. Tough, makes a lot of positive plays and gets the most from his ability. Breaks down well, effectively uses his hands and displays good change of direction with the ability to immediately alter his angle of attack. Displays speed both in a straight line and laterally in pursuit of the action. Resilient, rarely off his feet and gives great effort. Plays within the system. Effective in space.
Neg:
Slowed by blocks and out-positioned from the action by tight ends. Will struggle as a pass rusher at the next level. Has growth limitations.
Analysis:
Nwosu was very productive at the college level and sells out to make plays. He’s a hostile defender who would be effective on the outside of a traditional defense but also offers possibilities on the inside of a 3-4 alignment.
