Pos:
Athletic, versatile offensive lineman with great upside. Agile, stays square and easily seals defenders from the action. Quickly gets into blocks, shows strength and consistently controls defenders at the point. Bends his knees, blocks with leverage and makes terrific use of angles. Patient in pass protection and displays footwork with the ability to slide laterally. Very effective at the second level and displays a lot of ability in motion.
Neg:
Must be more consistent with his hand placement. Needs to improve his strength to finish blocks. Lacks great length, which may precipitate a move inside.
Analysis:
Howard comes off two terrific seasons at the small-school level and looked outstanding during the week of Senior Bowl practices. He's a versatile lineman who played both tackle positions as well as guard at Alabama State and comes with a lot of upside potential. Howard could play tackle for a team that isn’t stuck on his height, or he could develop into a terrific zone-blocking guard.
