The book is closed on the 2018 NFL season, as the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams to win the Super Bowl. With that being the case, and with an eye on free agency, here is our first two-round mock.

1

Arizona Cardinals

Quinnen Williams

DT

Alabama

Analysis: Nick Bosa will get strong consideration, but Williams is the top player on our board and helps the pass rush as well as the run defense.

2

San Francisco 49ers

Nick Bosa

DE

Ohio State

Analysis: The Niners will look to trade down with a team that wants a defensive lineman or Dwayne Haskins at top of the draft.

3

New York Jets

Clelin Ferrell

Edge

Clemson

Analysis: Josh Allen is the fashionable pick, but Ferrell is the better fit for Gregg Williams’ defense.

4

Oakland Raiders

Josh Allen

Edge

Kentucky

Analysis: Allen replaces the pass rusher Oakland traded away in Khalil Mack.

5

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Ed Oliver

DT

Houston

Analysis: Both LSU underclassmen are considerations at this point, but Oliver is great value.

6

New York Giants

Dwayne Haskins

QB

Ohio State

Analysis: This is a no-brainer for the Giants.

7

Jacksonville Jaguars

Greedy Williams

CB

LSU

Analysis: Expect the Jags to attempt to move ahead of the Giants for Haskins; otherwise Williams fits a need on defense.

8

Detroit Lions

Rashan Gary

DE

Michigan

Analysis: Some home cooking to fill a major need.

9

Buffalo Bills

Jawaan Taylor

OT

Florida

Analysis: As I mentioned during the Journey to the Draft podcast with Fran Duffy last week, a league source told me Taylor would be the first tackle drafted the day he entered the draft.

10

Denver Broncos

Drew Lock

QB

Missouri

Analysis: As mentioned on our podcast last Tuesday, everything I’ve heard since the Shrine Game has the Broncos selecting Lock.

11

Cincinnati Bengals

Devin White

LB

LSU

Analysis: Jonah Williams and T.J. Hockenson are considerations but there is a need at LB and White is great value.

12

Green Bay Packers

Jachai Polite

Edge

Florida

Analysis: I expect the Packers to address their pass rush needs in free agency, but until that happens, Polite is a great fit.

13

Miami Dolphins

Christian Wilkins

DL

Clemson

Analysis: The Dolphins need help all over the defensive line. Wilkins could be an absolute steal.

14

Atlanta Falcons

Jonah Williams

OL

Alabama

Analysis: Jeffery Simmons and Dexter Lawrence will be considerations here, but there’s a need at guard and Williams will be a Day 1 starter.

15

Washington Redskins

Kyler Murray

QB

Oklahoma

Analysis: In the end I think Murray goes much later than people presently predict or where I have him listed, but there’s a huge hole behind center for the Redskins.

16

Carolina Panthers

Deionte Thompson

S

Alabama

Analysis: As I first reported during The Draft Analysts podcast, expect the Panthers to go hard after safeties early in the 2019 NFL Draft.

17

Cleveland Browns

Jeffery Simmons

DT

Mississippi State

Analysis: I may demand a mulligan on this pick, but a terrific source tells me the belief is that Brown general manager John Dorsey will select Simmons. I’ll have more on the Mississippi State defensive tackle Wednesday.

18

Minnesota Vikings

Greg Little

OL

Mississippi

Analysis: The Vikings have several needs on the offensive line, and Little is versatile enough to be used at several spots.

19

Tennessee Titans

T.J. Hockenson

TE

Iowa

Analysis: Brian Burns is a consideration at this spot, but Hockenson is rated higher on my board.

20

Pittsburgh Steelers

Byron Murphy

CB

Washington

Analysis: The Steelers fill a need with a true playmaker.

21

Seattle Seahawks

Brian Burns

Edge

Florida State

Analysis: Though the Seahawks never-ending search for an offensive lineman continues, Burns also fills a need.

22

Baltimore Ravens

A.J. Brown

WR

Mississippi

Analysis: Deionte Thompson is a no-brainer if he’s available at this spot.

23

Houston Texans

Irv Smith Jr.

TE

Alabama

Analysis: Another weapon for Deshaun Watson.

24

Oakland Raiders (from Chicago)

Mack Wilson

LB

Alabama

Analysis: Wilson is a scheme-versatile, three-down defender.

25

Philadelphia Eagles

Dre’Mont Jones

DT

Ohio State

Analysis: Several offensive linemen enter the conversation, but Jones fits the mold for the Eagles as an explosive athlete and a good pass rusher.

26

Indianapolis Colts

Dexter Lawrence

DT

Clemson

Analysis: A top-rated WR will get consideration at this spot, but Lawrence slots into the Colts’ NT spot.

27

Oakland Raiders (from Dallas)

Taylor Rapp

S

Washington

Analysis: I prefer a free safety, but Rapp is the type of player Mike Mayock will push at this spot.

28

Los Angeles Chargers

Daniel Jones

QB

Duke

Analysis: Jerry Tillery gets consideration, but it’s time to groom the successor for Philip Rivers.

29

Kansas City Chiefs

Trayvon Mullen

CB

Clemson

Analysis: Despite the naysayers, running back is a consideration here, but Mullen is a terrific corner with great upside.

30

Green Bay Packers (from New Orleans)

Noah Fant

TE

Iowa

Analysis: They could take a highly rated offensive lineman at this spot, but tight end is also a need.

31

Los Angeles Rams

Andre Dillard

OT

Washington State

Analysis: Dillard slides in for the aging Andrew Whitworth and is a much better left-tackle prospect than Joseph Noteboom.

32

New England Patriots

Montez Sweat

Edge

Mississippi State

Analysis: The perfect replacement for Trey Flowers, who’ll likely be lost in free agency.
