Named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and made 28 catches for 313 yards and one score while starting four games in 2015. Made two starts as a redshirt freshman and caught 14 passes for 187 yards. Pos:
Nice-sized tight end who is well-versed in all areas of the position. Bends his knees, blocks with leverage and gives effort. Fires into blocks, stays square and out-positions defenders from the action. Fluid moving about the field, nicely settles into the open spot of the defense and runs well laterally on crossing patterns. Extends his hands to snatch the ball from the air. Exposes himself in a crowd to come away with difficult receptions and adjusts to errant throws. Sturdy tight end who takes a pounding but holds onto the ball. Plays with balance and body control and effectively uses the sidelines. Uses his frame to shield away defenders and looks the ball in. Consistent hands catcher.
Neg:
Possesses average strength at the point of attack. Does not have the speed to stretch the seam and outrun safeties.
Analysis:
Fumagalli was a consistent pass-catching threat at Wisconsin, and although he’s not a great athlete, he’s a terrific football player with enough ability to make an NFL roster as a second tight end.
