Four-year starter who earned Third Team All-MAC as a redshirt freshman, making 39 tackles (7.5 for loss) with 3.5 sacks. Earned Second Team All-MAC honors as a sophomore, when he made a career-high 49 tackles (9.5 for loss) with two sacks, and as a senior, when he posted 39 tackles (eight for loss) and a career-high five sacks.
Celebrated college defensive linemen who projects to nose tackle at the next level. Plays with excellent leverage, can be an overpowering force and works his hands. Fires off the snap with a quick first step, attracts double-team’s in the middle of the line and stands up blockers or sheds them to make plays on the ball handler. Strong, works his hands and does not give up an inch to opponents. Shows terrific quickness during the initial five yards.
Small area lineman. Lacks a quick change of direction and speed down the line of scrimmage. Had off-season surgery on an injured labrum in his shoulder.
Hester is a high character, hard-working nose tackle prospect who occupies blockers while showing the ability to make plays in his general vicinity. He’s a zero technique tackle prospect who reminds me of NFL veteran Ahtyba Rubin.
