Bio:
Three-year starter who spent his sophomore and junior seasons at left tackle before kicking inside to left guard in 2017, when he was named Honorable Mention All-ACC. Made five starts at right tackle as a true freshman before moving to the left side during 2015 training camp.
Pos:
Hard-working and versatile blocker who gets the most from his ability. Quick with his hands, bends his knees and stays square. Fires into blocks, initially moves defenders off the ball and plays with good strength. Keeps his feet moving and works well with teammates.
Neg:
Lacks footwork in space. Struggles to adjust. Possesses average size and speed.
Analysis:
Darling was used at both tackle and guard for Miami and played well at both positions. He’s a limited athlete but is a smart, tough lineman who could be an inexpensive backup at the next level.
