Bio:
Two-year starter at tight end who moved from receiver before the 2015 season. Led Idaho with 48 receptions and six touchdowns in 2016 and finished second on the team with 547 receiving yards. Caught 48 passes for 624 yards and four touchdowns as a junior, finishing fourth in FBS in receiving yards by a tight end.
Pos:
College receiver who projects to tight end or H-back at the next level. Quickly releases off the line into pass routes, uses his hands to separate from defenders and runs well laterally. Nicely makes the reception at full stride, looks the pass into his hands and grabs the ball away from his frame. Fluid releasing into pass routes, uses his frame to shield defenders and gives effort blocking.
Neg:
Really doesn’t start with good knee bend. Poor size and speed numbers.
Analysis:
Cowan is a solid pass catcher who consistently finds ways to separate from defenders. He offers possibilities as a move tight end who is often put in motion before the snap or an H-back coming out of the backfield.
