Bio:
Four-year starter who earned First Team All-Big 12 honors and led Oklahoma State with 79 tackles while intercepting two passes and breaking up eight in 2017. Named Second Team All-Big 12 and posted 61 tackles, tied for the team lead with two forced fumbles and added a team-high seven PBUs as a junior. Led the team with seven pass breakups and made 83 tackles (three for loss) with two interceptions in 2015. Started six games as a redshirt freshman and recorded 56 tackles and three pass breakups.
Pos:
Large, explosive safety best against the run. Looks the part and plays to it. Keeps the action in front of him, does not have mental lapses and shows a burst of straight-line speed. Takes proper angles to the action, squares into ball carriers and wraps up tackling. Goes hard after ball carriers but at the same time plays within the system.
Neg:
Does not make many plays against the pass. Cannot stay on the receiver’s hip out of breaks and does not show the ability to explode to the ball out of his plant. Average closing speed.
Analysis:
Flowers is a big, tough safety with underrated range and the ability to play sideline to sideline. He offers possibilities as a strong safety or in a zone system and will surprise the next level.
