Pos:
Athletic, playmaking college quarterback with limited next-level potential. Tough, hard-nosed player who does not shy away from contact and always looks to make something positive happen. Beats opponents with his arm and his legs. Sells ball fakes, remains poised under the rush and keeps his eyes downfield. Buys time for receivers, generally makes good decisions and shows a lot of toughness. Quickly identifies open wideouts and takes the safe underneath outlet if nothing else is available. Patient, senses pressure and takes off up the field only when necessary. Skilled ball carrier with playmaking ability.
Neg:
Rather inaccurate and can be all over the place with throws. Often throws the ball to covered targets. Makes receivers leave their feet and contort in all types of positions to make receptions. Doesn’t have the size to withstand the rush.
Analysis:
McSorley was a celebrated college passer but is more of a sandlot quarterback who creates and improvises more than he wins from the pocket. He possesses solid athletic skills and at the very least should be given practice-squad consideration this fall.
