Bio:
Reserve defensive back who made 31 tackles with one interception and two pass breakups as a senior. Recorded 32 tackles and two interceptions in 2016 despite missing the first four games of the season due to a suspension for failing a drug test leading up to the Cotton Bowl the prior season.
Pos:
Smart, disciplined football player with outstanding athleticism. Effectively reads and diagnoses the action, quickly makes his way up the field and forcefully blows through blocks to make plays on the ball. Plays to his 40 time, stays on the receiver’s hip out of breaks and effectively times pass defenses. Keeps the action in front of him, possesses solid ball skills and has the athleticism to recover from mistakes. Very effective facing the action and shows a closing burst to the play. Battles with receivers throughout the route and sells out on the blitz. Hard hitter who jars the ball loose.
Neg:
Struggles to make plays with his back to the ball. Best in a straight line and struggles when he must change direction. Displays tightness in his game.
Analysis:
Brown has the size and speed to play at the next level but may only be effective in a zone system or backed off the line of scrimmage. He’s displayed himself as an effective special-teams player in the past, which will help him capture a roster spot on Sundays.
