Broke into the starting lineup as a junior with 19 tackles (12.5 for loss) and 10.5 sacks. Earned Second Team All-American honors as a senior in 2016, making 31 tackles (16 for loss) with nine sacks, two forced fumbles and 12 quarterback hurries. Arrested in September for carrying a gun without a permit. Rotational defender during his first two seasons at Alabama.
Game-impacting pass rusher with tremendous upside potential. Athletic and disruptive and makes plays standing up over tackle or coming out of a three-point stance. Plays with balance, is rarely off his feet and bends off the edge with great momentum. Explodes off the snap with a great first step and displays a devastating closing burst. Displays a variety of moves to protect himself and cleanly disengages from blocks to make plays. Agile, plays with tremendous pad level and consistently gets leverage on opponents. Tough to stop, keeps his feet and hands working and plays with outstanding body control. Quick, explosive and constantly penetrating the line of scrimmage to disrupt the action. Creates tremendous pressure up the field forcing the quarterback to move from the pocket.
Average instincts and slow locating the ball. Can be exploited defending the run. Has a host of off-field issues which could interfere with his next-level play.
Williams is a disruptive force and a defender opponents must constantly game-plan around. Offering a great combination of athleticism, speed and explosion, he’s the type of defensive player coordinators will covet but a prospect who must mature off the field and keep his focus on football.
