Bio:
First-year starter who earned Second Team All-ACC honors and made 36 tackles (12.5 for loss) with four sacks in 2017. Posted 17 tackles (seven for loss) as a redshirt freshman.
Pos:
Large, explosive defensive tackle who shows exciting athleticism. Takes up a lot of room in the middle of the line and attracts double-team blocks but holds his ground or breaks through them to make plays behind the line of scrimmage. Bends his knees, plays with proper pad level and keeps his feet moving. Displays good change of direction and the ability to get down the line in pursuit of the action. Has a terrific build for the next level.
Neg:
Ineffective with his hands and shows little in the way of getting off blocks once engaged at the point. Must prove he can do more than bull rush opponents off the line. More of a short-area defender who is at his best in the box.
Analysis:
After a solid freshman campaign, Settle took his game to the next level last season and moves towards the draft as one of the more underrated defensive tackles available. He offers possibilities in a four-man line and could eventually line up at nose tackle. Settle will only improve as he physically matures and develops techniques to protect himself and disengage from blocks.
