Four-year starter who earned First Team All-Conference USA honors in both 2015 and 2016. Broke his own school records with 98 receptions for 1,730 yards as a senior and tied his own record with 17 receiving touchdowns. Caught 86 passes for 1,467 yards and 17 scores as a junior. Started seven games in 2014 and was named Honorable Mention All-Conference USA after making 45 catches for 767 yards and seven scores. Made seven starts as a true freshman and caught 24 passes for 270 yards.
Pos:
Productive, reliable receiver best running underneath routes. Smooth releasing off the line, quickly gets into breaks and stays low on exit, positioning himself to make the reception. Easily adjusts to the errant throw, uses his frame to shield defenders and for the most part extends making the reception away from his frame. Effective running after the catch, keeps the play in bounds and works to pick up as much yardage as possible. Displays outstanding focus as well as concentration. Easily makes the deep reception in stride. Gets vertical and competes to come away with the contested grab. Gets down to scoop up low throws and makes the tough catch in errant positions.
Neg:
Lacks a true second gear and elite burst. Not a big or sturdy receiver. Unnecessarily lets the pass get inside him on occasion.
Analysis:
Taylor is a quick athlete and mostly a sure-handed pass catcher who can line up in the slot or out on the flanks. He also offers possibility as a return specialist and offers the underlying potential to develop into a team’s third receiver.
