Three-year starter who was named to the Maxwell Award, CFPA Performer of the Year and Reese’s Senior Bowl watch lists before the 2016 season. Suffered a season-ending Lisfranc injury in 2015 after being named to the Maxwell Award, Wuerffel Trophy, Davey O’Brien Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year and Manning Award watch lists heading into season. Finished his career with 609 completions on 1,047 attempts for 6,929 yards, 43 touchdowns and 31 interceptions. Also totaled 534 rushes for 2,815 yards and 32 touchdowns.
Athletic college signal caller with a long injury history. Patient in the pocket, displays terrific awareness and a sense for what’s happening on the field. Remains poised under the rush, easily gets outside the pocket and keeps his eyes downfield. Natural looking off the safety, scans the field and locates the open wideout. Flashes tremendous accuracy and pass placement. Puts touch on throws when necessary. Athletic, easily escapes the rush or turns upfield and pick up yardage with his feet.
Does not always release the ball with proper fundamentals, throwing off his back foot or even flat-footed. Lacks a next-level arm and cannot drive deep passes, as his long throws tend to float in the air. Struggles under the rush and lacks great pocket-passer size.
When healthy Hill was an effective college signal caller who flashed dominance. His film is worthy of a late-round selection but his lack of durability plus his age make it very unlikely he’ll get out of camp this summer, either as a quarterback or at another position.
