Part-time starter who moved from defensive end to outside linebacker in 2016 and started in base packages after LSU changed defensive schemes. Made four starts as a senior and posted 23 tackles (5.5 for loss) and four sacks. Started three games at defensive end as a junior in 2015, making 18 tackles (four for loss) with 1.5 sacks. Had 16 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, as a backup end in 2014.
Versatile but athletically limited prospect with potential as a situational player. Tough and instinctive and gets the most from his ability. Resilient, relentless and stays with the action. Play smart, disciplined football, effectively uses his hands to protect himself and plays with proper pad level. Effective pass rusher out of a three-point stance. Flashes ability in space and does an above-average job covering running backs out of the backfield.
Lacks overall speed and quickness for a true outside linebacker. Undersized for defensive end, lacks strength at the point of attack and gets controlled by a single blocker.
Bower was productive in a rotational role at LSU and could be an inexpensive designated pass rusher at the next level that comes out of a three-point stance or stands up over tackle.
