Bio:
Four-year starter named First Team All-AAC in 2016 after making 74 tackles (12 for loss), ranking third in the conference with 8.5 sacks, forcing two fumbles and intercepting one pass. Earned Second Team All-AAC honors as a junior and led the conference with 10 sacks, adding 92 tackles (18.5 for loss), two forced fumbles and two interceptions. Started 10 games in 2014, posting 76 tackles (nine for loss), four sacks and three forced fumbles. Took over the starting job at strong-side linebacker in the third game of his freshman season, making 89 tackles (10.5 for loss) with three sacks.
Pos:
Undersized and underrated linebacker who makes a lot of plays on the football. Tough, always willing to stick his pads into the pile and breaks down well. Quick moving in every direction, displays terrific range and goes sideline to sideline making plays. Agile, effectively uses his hands to protect himself and shows a closing burst of speed. Gets depth on pass drops and easily gets outside the numbers to make plays.
Neg:
Not a secure tackler. Does not display much force on the blitz. Easily disrupted from the action or swallowed up by blocks.
Analysis:
Taylor is rarely mentioned outside the smallest of scouting circles but is a solid pursuit linebacker with potential on special teams. He offers possibilities in a one-gap system where he is used as a run-and-chase linebacker.
