Bio:
First-year starter who was named Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 and caught 41 passes for 644 yards and four touchdowns as a senior. Started three games and made 24 receptions for 226 yards and one score in 2016 before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Posted 37 catches for 335 yards and four TDs as a sophomore.
Pos:
Adequately sized receiver with dependable hands. Quickly releases off the line of scrimmage, immediately gets to top speed and snatches the ball cleanly away from his frame. Works back to the quarterback to make himself an available target. Adjusts to errant throws and competes to come away with contested receptions. Quickly turns upfield and keeps plays in bounds after the catch.
Neg:
Turned in average production. Will struggle in battles at the next level despite being strong for his size. Lacks a true second gear and deep speed.
Analysis:
Mitchell flashed ability the past two seasons at USC and projects as a potential fifth receiver at the next level. Adding a kick-return element to his game this summer would help his cause.
