Two-year starter who played 11 games with the first team in his first two seasons with the Hurricanes. Third Team All-ACC in 2016 after leading the team with 63 catches and nine receiving touchdowns and ranking second with 754 receiving yards. Second Team All-ACC as a junior, posting 47 receptions for 689 yards and four scores. Earned Third Team All-ACC honors as a true freshman in 2013, leading the team with seven touchdown catches, and was the only FBS player to score a rushing, receiving, kick return and punt return touchdown.
Consistent receiver who plays to one speed. Quickly releases off the line, tracks the pass in the air and displays a sense of timing on receptions. Gets vertical or contorts to come away with the throw, possesses terrific eye/hand coordination and keeps his focus and attention in traffic. Extends his hands and makes the difficult reception away from his frame. Makes the difficult over the shoulder reception in stride contorting to the errant throw and looking the ball into his hands. Uses his frame to shield away defenders or protect the pass, takes a pounding but holds onto the ball.
Struggles in battles. Lacks a deep burst and the 2nd gear. Commitment to football has been questioned by scouts.
Coley is a natural pass catcher who could lineup as a 3rd a 4th wide out on Sunday if he’s focused on his game and makes football a priority.
