Two-year starter who played 11 games with the first team in his first two seasons with the Hurricanes. Third Team All-ACC in 2016 after leading the team with 63 catches and nine receiving touchdowns and ranking second with 754 receiving yards. Second Team All-ACC as a junior, posting 47 receptions for 689 yards and four scores. Earned Third Team All-ACC honors as a true freshman in 2013, leading the team with seven touchdown catches, and was the only FBS player to score a rushing, receiving, kick return and punt return touchdown.
Consistent receiver who plays at one speed. Quickly releases off the line, tracks the pass in the air and displays a sense of timing on receptions. Gets vertical and contorts to come away with the throw, possesses terrific hand-eye coordination and keeps his focus and attention in traffic. Extends his hands and makes the difficult reception away from his frame. Makes the difficult over-the-shoulder reception in stride, contorting to the errant throw and looking the ball into his hands. Uses his frame to shield defenders or protect the pass and takes a pounding but holds onto the ball.
Struggles in battles. Lacks a deep burst and second gear. Commitment to football has been questioned by scouts.
Coley is a natural pass catcher who could lineup as a third or fourth wideout on Sundays if he’s focused on his game and makes football a priority.
