Scouting the Pac-12 - Utah

Depending on who you speak with, scouts have close to a handful of Utah seniors graded as draftable. But based on our board, the top prospects in the program are underclassmen.

Junior corner Julian Blackmon has next-level size and speed as well as NFL-caliber ball skills. Technically sound, he’s quick and fluid pedaling in reverse, loses nothing transitioning to run with opponents and shows a great burst to the ball.

Blackmon plays physical football and is rarely challenged by opponents. I could see him moving into the draft’s initial 50 choices if he improves off his sophomore season.

Zack Moss is highly thought of in the scouting community, and one look at the game film tells you why. He’s a nice-sized ball carrier with tremendous quickness, the ability to create yardage and enough strength to break tackles.

He’s a terrific open-field runner who can also pick his way on the inside for critical yardage. Moss also catches the ball well out of the backfield.

While I’ve given Moss a third-round grade some league scouts rate him higher and feel the junior ball carrier is second-round value.
