Scouting the Big 12: TCU

Recently the Horned Frogs were on the outside looking in when it came to the college football playoffs.  In 2017 it will be a struggle for TCU to be in the upper echelon of the Big 12.

I’ve liked tackle Joseph Noteboom the past two seasons and believe he’s a tough, slug it out blocker who gets the most from his ability.  Noteboom is also a stiff and shows little in the way of footwork or the ability to block in motion.  As a result he’ll be a late round pick and may be kicked inside to guard at the next level.

Several scouts are very high on receiver Taj Williams. stamping him with a middle round grade and it’s easy to see why on paper.  Williams offers decent size (6-foot-2.5-inches), runs the forty in the 4.4s and flashes big time ability.

And while Williams offers a nice upside he’s only been productive for one season at TCU after transferring from Iowa Western CC.  I firmly believe Williams has the skills to move into the middle rounds but must improve his production (39 receptions) from a year ago.
