Scouting the ACC: Virginia

Except for Eli Harold and Morgan Moses, the Cavaliers have predominantly filled the draft with last-day selections. That won’t change in 2018.

Three players from the defensive side of the ball are at the top of the Cavaliers' draft board, starting with junior safety Juan Thornhill.

Thornhill moved into the starting lineup last season and his game took off. He comes with adequate size and next-level ball skills.

The junior is very effective facing the action and easily covers pass catchers that come across the middle.

Micah Kiser has been a consistent defender at Virginia and is a tough run stuffer with an inside linebacker's build. He’s forceful up the field and sacrifices his body to make the play.

Safety Quin Blanding is also a terrific run stuffer but is a defensive back who's best playing downhill. He has the size and mentality of a linebacker and viciously attacks opponents. What he lacks are ball skills, which will make Blanding less attractive on draft weekend.
