The Pirates have had three players selected in the draft since 2011, and all of them have been receivers. This year their top NFL prospect and possibly only draft choice is another receiver.

Despite being overshadowed by Zay Jones, I stamped Davon Grayson as a potential late-round choice entering the 2016 campaign, as he showed NFL potential as a junior in 2015. Unfortunately a back injury forced Grayson to the sidelines all of last year, his second season-ending injury in two years.

Grayson offers decent size, deceptive speed and reliable hands. He was very effective making the deep reception and also proved his worth as an intermediate range target. A return to health coupled with a productive senior season along with medical clearance could secure Grayson as a final-day choice.

Brandon Smith is a massive tackle who flashes power but needs a lot of work on his game. His size alone makes him a prospect, and at the very worst Smith projects as a practice-squad prospect.
