Two-year starter who made 35 receptions for 579 yards and five touchdowns in 2016 as Pitt’s second-most productive weapon in the passing game. Caught 13 passes for 244 yards and five scores as a junior in 2015. Started five games as a freshman before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Solid pass-catching tight end coming off a career campaign. Runs good routes, separates from defenders and extends his hands to offer the quarterback a target. Makes the reception away from his frame and takes the big hit but holds onto the throw. Bends his knees, blocks with leverage and plays through the whistle.
Average long speed and will not consistently run the seam. Average strength at the point of attack and struggles holding his ground.
Orndoff was not on the scouting radar entering the season but showed himself to be a reliable pass-catching threat in 2016. He has athletic limitations but could make it as the third man on the depth chart if he improves his blocking strength.
