Bio:
Two-year starter who earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors and finished second on the team with 13.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks as a junior while adding 42 tackles and two forced fumbles. Named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and recorded 46 tackles (eight for loss) and 3.5 sacks in 2016. Posted 28 tackles (eight for loss) and 6.5 sacks as a redshirt freshman.
Pos:
Athletic pass-rushing defensive end coming off a somewhat disappointing campaign. Fluid moving about the field, rarely off his feet and breaks down well. Works his hands throughout the action, plays with good lean and flashes the power to overwhelm opponents and push offensive tackles into the pocket. Displays good change of direction, collapses laterally down the line to make plays and gives effort against the run. Instinctive, quickly locates the ball and scrapes laterally to get involved in the action.
Neg:
Very inconsistent in 2017. Showed average quickness, looked stiff and rarely displayed a good closing burst.
Analysis:
Early in his Ohio State career, Hubbard looked like the next dominant Buckeyes defensive line prospect, but his play took a step back last year. He comes with growth potential and a good amount of upside but needs to get back on track.
