Bio:
First-year starter who redshirted in 2015 after transferring from Division III Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Earned First Team All-Big Ten honors as a junior in 2016.
Pos:
Small school transfer coming off a terrific junior campaign. Large, athletic and moves well on his feet. Quick and fluid blocking on the 2nd level, adjusts to linebackers and removes them from the action. Moves well on his feet, keeps his head on a swivel and agile. Quickly gets his hands into defenders, keeps his feet moving in pass protection and anchors at the point. Keeps his head on a swivel, easily adjusts to oncoming blitzers or knocks speed rushers from their angle of attack. Stays square, keeps defenders in front of him and seals them from the action.
Neg:
Gets narrow-based in his setup. Plays back on his heels and slow to react. Really doesn’t sink his butt at the line scrimmage. Deficient run blocker and must improve his overall playing strength.
Analysis:
Ramczyk flashed dominance as a pass protector last season and offers size as well as upside but is far from being NFL ready. While he offers a nice upside Ramczyk also has a big bust factor to his game and will need patience as well as proper coaching.
