Bio:
Four-year starter who earned First Team All-Pioneer Football League honors and caught 50 passes for 663 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2017. Named Second Team All-Pioneer Football League in each of his first three seasons at San Diego. Led the team with 70 receptions and 10 receiving touchdowns while adding 843 receiving yards as a junior. Led San Diego in receiving and made 54 catches for 580 yards and three TDs in 2015. Caught 23 passes for 219 yards as a true freshman.
Pos:
Natural pass-catching tight end with poor speed. Quick off the snap, blocks with proper pad level and gives effort. Displays focus, concentration and terrific hand-eye coordination, nicely adjusts to errant throws and snatches the ball from the air in stride. Possesses soft and strong hands, keeps his focus and concentration and takes a pounding but holds onto the throw. Gets vertical and high points the ball over defenders.
Neg:
Possesses average strength as a blocker and struggles to finish. Presents himself as a one-speed tight end who does not get deep separation despite playing faster than his 40 times.
Analysis:
Dwelley is a solid small-school, pass-catching tight end but is an average athlete with limited upside. He projects as a move tight end at the next level with a chance to catch on as the third man on the depth chart.
