Bio:
Two-year starter who transferred from community college. Started his career at Tennessee but suffered a season-ending leg injury and redshirted in 2013 before leaving school after the 2014 spring game. Spent that season detailing cars at an auto dealership before enrolling at Coffeyville CC. Named First Team All-AAC in 2017 after completing 63.1 percent of his passes and setting school records with 4,257 passing yards and 38 touchdowns. Junior numbers include 3,698 passing yards and 32 touchdowns, which rank third and second in Tigers history, respectively.
Pos:
Junior-college transfer who displayed consistent progress the past two seasons. Patient in the pocket, scans the field and effectively locates the open receiver. Displays a sense of timing on throws, does not make receivers wait on the ball and flashes the ability to precisely place passes where only his receiver can make the reception. Displays velocity on passes and gets the ball quickly to the intended target. Patient in the pocket, sells ball fakes and goes to the safety valve or checkdown receiver if nothing else is available. Can pick up yardage with his legs in a pinch.
Neg:
Has a long throwing motion that will be a problem at the next level. Struggles with downfield accuracy. Possesses a thin build that will make it difficult to stand up against the rush in the NFL.
Analysis:
Ferguson possesses an adequate arm and above-average football intelligence for the next level. He’ll never be a starter but could have a long career as a third quarterback.
