Bio:
Two-year starter named a unanimous First Team All-American in 2016 after leading Alabama with 115 tackles, including 13 for loss, and adding five sacks. Posted 73 tackles (eight for loss), two sacks and nine pass breakups as a junior in 2015. Made his first career start as a sophomore and finished the season with 22 tackles (two for loss) and one sack.
Pos:
Tremendous three-down linebacker with an outstanding combination of athleticism and instincts. Displays great anticipation on the field and speed moving in every direction. Breaks down well, quickly locates the ball carrier and takes good angles to the action. Flows well laterally, sells out up the field against the run and consistently wraps up tackling. Runs step-for-step laterally with tight ends and is incredibly explosive and effective in pursuit. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself, defeats blocks by bigger linemen and gets to the ball handler. Play smart, disciplined football but also attacks assignments. Effectively makes plays in space.
Neg:
Coming off shoulder surgery which may slow his development at the next level. Short and will be overmatched by tall tight ends.
Analysis:
Foster was an impact player on Alabama’s outstanding defense and a linebacker who did the little things well. Once healthy he should immediately impact a team at the next level and quickly find his way into the lineup as a starter.
