Bio:
One-year starter who made 36 tackles (3.5 for loss) in 2017. Made eight starts and posted 45 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble as a junior. Missed all but one game of the 2015 season with a knee injury. Recorded 28 tackles as a sophomore.
Pos:
Underrated run-and-chase linebacker with next-level potential. Instinctive, effectively reads and diagnoses the action and does not make mental mistakes or misjudgments on the field. Athletic, easily gets out in space to make plays and fires upfield to disrupt the action. Plays faster than his 40 time, displays speed moving laterally and gets depth on pass drops. Flies around the action and can be a disruptive force. Holds his ground against tight ends and sets the edge when necessary.
Neg:
Undersized and struggles to disengage from blocks. Not a secure tackler. Has growth limitations.
Analysis:
Carter gets lost in the shuffle due to the immense amount of talent Georgia provided on defense. He has enough ability to back up in a one-gap defense and should offer a helping hand on special teams.
