Bio:
Three-year starter who earned First Team All-Big 12 honors and led TCU with 14 pass breakups while recording 33 tackles, two sacks, one interception and one forced fumble in 2017. Named Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and made 46 tackles (3.5 for loss) with two sacks, one interception and seven PBUs as a junior. Played three games in 2015 before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Started all 13 games as a redshirt freshman and posted 31 tackles (3.5 for loss), one sack, one interception and seven pass breakups.
Pos:
Small, feisty cornerback with terrific ball skills. Competitive, gets his head back around in downfield coverage and positions himself to make plays on the receiver. Effective in zone coverage and backed off the line of scrimmage, tracks the pass in the air and has a burst to the ball out of his plant. Quick moving in reverse and fluid changing direction.
Neg:
Small and outmatched by opponents. Gives effort against the run but isn’t a strong tackler.
Analysis:
Texada has been ignored by scouts the past two seasons but possesses the instincts and ball skills necessary to line up as a dime back.
