Bio:
Three-year starter who was named Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and led Oklahoma State with 11 pass breakups in 2017, adding 62 tackles (five for loss) and two interceptions. Tied for the team lead with three interceptions and made 64 tackles with six PBUs as a junior. Posted 15 tackles, two interceptions and two pass breakups in 2015. Earned a starting role in the second half of his true freshman season and recorded 42 tackles, a team-high three INTs and four pass breakups.
Pos:
Underrated safety with poor size and speed. Instinctive, effectively reads and diagnoses the action and displays solid ball skills. Fierce hitter who explodes to the action with a closing burst and competes to break up the throw. Effectively lines up over the slot receiver, shows solid ball skills and makes a lot of plays on the pass.
Neg:
Inefficient and does not take proper angles. Not a strong open-field tackler.
Analysis:
Richards is a terrific football player who lacks next-level speed, arm length and overall athleticism but offers possibilities as a dime back and can be used in the slot or on special teams.
