Two-year starter who garnered Second Team All-American honors as a junior in 2016, making 102 tackles (seven for loss) with two sacks, two forced fumbles and four pass breakups. Second Team All-Big Ten in 2015 after posting 119 tackles (four for loss) and 1.5 sacks.
Athletic run-defending linebacker who displays the traits of a three-down defender. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself, takes good angles to the play and pursues laterally with speed. Stacks well against the run, controls blockers to allow teammates to make plays on the ball or wraps up tackling. Stout at the point of attack and explosive. Fires up the field filling gaps in run defense.
Struggles in coverage and possesses average ball skills. Shows more of a short burst of speed which he does not sustain.
McMillan is a solid linebacker, but he’s not the next spectacular defender from Ohio State many projected him to be. He offers possibilities at middle or inside linebacker but is more of a two-down defender likely to be taken off the field on third-down passing plays.
