Pro Day March 31

Texas Tech is the big pro day on today’s schedule as quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be throwing for NFL teams. We’ll also be keeping a close eye on West Virginia where receiver Shelton Gibson is expected to run again for scouts.
The 40’s are being run and we’d expect the passing workout to start in about 30 minutes. I can tell you Patrick Mahomes met with the San Francisco 49ers last night and also spent a good amount of time with the New York Giants.
I can also tell you the New York Jets have strong interest in Mahomes, but I was asked not to go any further.
Thus far I’m told Wade Wilson (Dallas Cowboys) , Joe Lombardi (New Orleans Saints) and Randy Fichtner (Pittsburgh Steelers) are some of the quarterbacks coaches on hand.
The workout is over and from all the people I’ve spoken with, it was a very good day for Mahomes.
He tossed about 70 NFL-type passes and looked very good.
There were a few deep misses but from what I’m told they were as much a result of weary-legged receivers not being able to run to the ball.
Mahomes lined up under center and took snaps, something he rarely did in college. He handled the ball well and there were no bobbled snaps. His footwork looked much improved dropping into the pocket from under center.
Mahomes still has a lot of room for improvement, but I’m told he’s made incredible strides since his combine/pro day training started.
Who was on hand?
The Seattle Seahawks had several people on hand including general manager John Schneider.
San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch.
New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo.
Cleveland Browns assistant director of scouting Glenn Cook.
New York Jets national scout Jim Jauch.
Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, whose meeting with Mahomes one-on-one this afternoon.
I’m told just about all 32 teams were on hand for Indiana's pro day, primarily for prized Hoosier Dan Feeney.
The offensive lineman stood on his combine numbers but did position drills and looked very good. Offensive line coaches from the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles were on hand and ran Feeney through the drills.
Feeney work both as a guard and center. We presently have the big blocker being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in Round 2 of our latest mock draft.
The FAU pro day was held on Thursday and teams were primarily on hand to see defensive front-seven star Trey Hendrickson.
Hendrickson, who’s been moving north on draft boards, participated in both defensive line and linebacker drills, looking terrific in each. I’m told he showed great quickness and explosion and was fluid moving in every direction.
Hendrickson had dinner the night before pro day with the Detroit Lions and also met with the Baltimore Ravens. He has an upcoming workout with the New Orleans Saints and will be flying west for an official visit with the Arizona Cardinals.
Tanner Vallejo stood on most of his combine numbers but did lift again, posting 19 reps, while timing 4.12s in the short shuttle. He later looked good in position drills.
The Buffalo Bills think highly of Vallejo and the Cleveland Browns also had their linebacker coach on hand.
Houston cornerback Brandon Wilson, who turned in an exceptional pro day earlier this week, is scheduled to take an official visit to see the Oakland Raiders.
Tight end Brandon Barnes, who also had a good pro day on March 10, has a workout scheduled with the Buffalo Bills.
