Bio:
Three-year starter who was awarded First Team All-CAA honors in both his junior and senior seasons and earned ECAC FCS All-Star honors in each of those seasons. Maine awarded him the Walter Abbott Outstanding Defensive Player Award after his junior season. Finished his career with 208 tackles, 18 sacks, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Pos:
Explosive defensive line prospect who makes a lot of plays on the football. Bends his knees, plays with proper pad level and consistently gets leverage on opponents. Explosive off the snap, displays tremendous first-step quickness and possesses a variety of moves to get off blocks. Tenacious, fights hard throughout the action and displays a burst of speed. Intense, keeps his feet and hands active and plays through the whistle. Possesses good change of direction to chase the ball handler down the line of scrimmage and outside the box and makes plays.
Neg:
More of a first-step lineman and does not play with great strength. Struggles getting off blocks once engaged and occasionally gets turned from the action by tight ends.
Analysis:
Ricard is an explosive defensive lineman who could be used as a three-technique tackle or two-gap end. He offers solid size as well as growth potential and may need a year or two to physically mature and get stronger in an NFL weight training program but offers a nice degree of upside and potential.
