Bio:
Three-year starter named Honorable Mention All-Big 12 in each of his final three seasons with the Bears. Finished second in the conference with six interceptions in 2016, adding 76 tackles (five for loss), one sack and five pass breakups. Made 64 tackles (1.5 for loss) with one interception and one sack in nine games in 2015, missing two games with an injury and one due to a suspension for violating team rules. Sophomore totals include 81 tackles, four interceptions and three pass breakups. Made two starts as a redshirt freshman in 2013 with 39 tackles and an interception.
Pos:
Underrated safety with poor speed. Aggressive, physical and willingly defends the run. Relatively instinctive, effectively tracks the pass in the air and works well with cornerbacks. Displays solid ball skills, a burst out of his plant and good hands for the interception. Remains disciplined, stays with cover assignments and aggressively defends the run.
Neg:
Lacks overall quickness in his game. Deep speed is a concern. Does not possess great range.
Analysis:
Stewart is a smart, tough football player with athletic limitations and is a prospect who could line up in dime packages as a zone safety. He also brings a special-teams mentality with him, which is an added bonus.
