Pos:
Large, relatively athletic tight end who flashes big-play ability. Blocks with proper lean, stays square and works through the whistle. Fluidly releases off the line of scrimmage, sells routes and sacrifices his body to come away with the throw. Nicely adjusts to errant passes, gets vertical and contorts in the air and catches the ball with his hands away from his frame. Fluid, moves well and consistently looks the ball into his hands. Keeps his focus and concentration, uses his frame to shield away defenders and fights with his hands to get separation. Tested incredibly well during the combine.
Neg:
Average strength as a blocker. Though he occasionally splits the seam, Fant is not a true downfield threat.
Analysis:
Fant is an impressive-looking tight end who catches the ball like a receiver and plays with outstanding balance and body control. Overrated in some quarters, he has the potential to develop into a No. 1 tight end at the next level, although there may be bumps in the road early in his NFL career.
