Bio:
First-year starter who missed the 2015 season with a broken leg. Named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten in 2016 after catching 32 passes for 402 yards and seven touchdowns.
Pos:
Big-bodied possession wideout with an undeveloped game. Goes over the middle of the field, uses his frame to shield defenders and takes a pounding but holds onto the throw. Follows the quarterback across the field to make himself an available target, nicely times receptions and gets vertical with defenders draped on him then wins out for contested passes. Looks the ball into his hands, uses his size as an advantage and plays big football. Works his hands to separate from defenders, stays low exiting breaks and positions himself to make the reception.
Neg:
Really does not display naturally soft hands. Not quick releasing off the line of scrimmage into pass routes, off balance exiting breaks and a one-speed receiver who lacks a deep burst. Comes with a marginal body of work.
Analysis:
Brown showed flashes of being a big, dominant possession wideout but has a thin body of work and is one-dimensional in his game. He’s far from NFL-ready and may need time on a practice squad to further develop his game.
