Bio:
Three-year starter who earned First Team All-SEC honors and led Georgia with 1,345 rushing yards and 223 rushes while scoring 15 touchdowns as a senior. Paced the team in rushing and carried 224 times for 1,130 yards and eight TDs in 2016. Rushed 92 times for 747 yards and seven scores in six games as a sophomore before suffering a horrific knee injury on the first play of Georgia’s game against Tennessee. Named First Team All-SEC as a true freshman and led all SEC running backs with 14 rushing touchdowns while carrying 219 times for 1,547 yards.
Pos:
Strong, downhill ball carrier with an underrated game. Displays terrific power in his lower body, rarely gets taken down by the first defender and drags opponents for extra yardage. Displays excellent short-area quickness, runs with proper lean and keeps his feet moving on contact. Patiently waits for blocks to develop, finds running lanes and quickly cuts back in a small area. Resilient, picks his way through the trash and works runs. Solid pass catcher out of the backfield. Aggressively attacks assignments and goes after defenders as a blocker. Squares into opponents and removes them from the action.
Neg:
Not a naturally quick ball carrier. Lacks the agility and speed to be a true perimeter runner. Cannot create or improvise. Injury history will raise red flags.
Analysis:
When healthy and on the field, Chubb was a terrific ball carrier at Georgia and projects well at the next level for an offense that will use him primarily between the tackles. He does the little things well, and if durable, Chubb will have a long career at the next level.
