Bio:
Two-year starter who earned First Team FCS All-America honors and led North Dakota State with 6.5 sacks and three forced fumbles while adding 74 tackles (10.5 for loss) and one interception as a senior. Played three games in 2016 before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery. Named First Team All-MVC and led the team with 135 tackles (10 for loss) while posting three sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and six pass breakups as a junior. Started five games and recorded 67 tackles and three INTs in 2014. Made 27 tackles as a true freshman.
Pos:
Tough, hard-working middle linebacker prospect with limited athleticism and upside. Patient, constantly around the action and plays assignment football. Forceful at the point of attack, effectively uses his hands and forces turnovers. Fires up the field to fill gaps, wraps up tackling and brings opponents down in the open field. Breaks down well, quickly collapses to the outside to defend the run and shows ability in zone coverage.
Neg:
Makes more plays up the field than in reverse. Possesses average quickness and shows little pursuit speed.
Analysis:
Deluca is a hard-working two-down defender who can be effective on coverage units.
