Week 2 of the college season features an all-important contest in the SEC East, as Georgia travels to Williams-Brice Stadium for a contest against South Carolina. The game includes head-to-head matchups between several highly rated NFL prospects. It’s a game that scouts will be closely watching.

South Carolina’s passing game against Georgia’s talented secondary is the first matchup to watch.

Cornerback Deandre Baker received first-round grades across the board before the season began as scouts love his size, athleticism and tenacity. Baker is a physical corner who beats down opponents to defend throws. I am concerned about his inability to get his head around, as Baker does a lot of face-guarding.

J.R. Reed does not get a lot of publicity, but I am very high on the safety. He has excellent size and next-level ball skills and plays aggressive football.

The duo from Georgia will have to stop Deebo Samuel, the explosive Gamecocks receiver and return specialist graded as a first-round prospect by many. Samuel has excellent burst, plays fast and presents himself as a legitimate deep threat.

He’s also coming off a broken leg, which limited Samuel to just three games a year ago. He showed no ill effects from the injury last week and totaled seven receptions for 56 yards against Coastal Carolina.

Keep an eye on Bryan Edwards, the Gamecocks' other big-play receiver and another legitimate next-level prospect.

Throwing to the duo is quarterback Jake Bentley. The junior has flashed big-time ability the past two seasons and possesses the “it” factor.

While I presently grade Bentley as a second-round prospect, he has first-round potential.

Despite losses in the first 100 picks of last April's draft, Georgia still fields a staunch defense that will challenge Bentley.

It will also be a challenge for talented South Carolina left tackle Dennis Daley. A part-time starter last season, Daley showed flashes of brilliance in 2017, his first with on the field at USC.

Against Georgia he’ll be facing defensive end Jonathan Ledbetter and linebacker D’Andre Walker, two defenders who can rush the passer and project as second-round picks.
