First-year starter who transitioned to cornerback from wide receiver after the 2014 season. Made 27 tackles (three for loss) with two interceptions and three pass breakups in 2016 after recording 11 tackles as a junior. Caught 20 passes for 150 yards in his first two seasons at Temple.
Former receiver who developed at a torrid pace last season. Fluid flipping his hips transitioning off the line and displays good recognition as well as a closing burst. Stays with coverage assignments, plays physical and gives effort. Quick up the field defending the run and sells out making plays. Effective facing the action and shows solid instincts. Uses his size as an advantage and plays big football.
Prefers to side shuffle down the field and rarely backpedals, which hurts his ability to plant and drive to the ball. Struggles making plays with his back to the ball. Rough around the edges and lacks experience at cornerback.
Entering the season Hairston was not the considered a prospect by NFL scouts, but he turned in a terrific season which he followed up with the solid showing at the Senior Bowl. He possesses the measurables to play the next level and is a developmental prospect with special-teams ability.
