Bio:
One-year starter who took on a backup role as a senior, making 18 tackles in 10 games. Posted 18 tackles and intercepted one pass in four games in 2016 before undergoing season-ending surgery on a torn pectoral and receiving a medical redshirt. Battled through knee issues to start four games at safety in 2015 and made 25 tackles with three pass breakups. Started 13 games as a sophomore and tallied 93 tackles with three interceptions and five PBUs. Named Third Team All-ACC as a true freshman despite starting only one game and made 35 tackles with four interceptions, three forced fumbles and four pass breakups.
Pos:
Once-highly rated safety prospect whose game and development were interrupted by injury. Physical, works hard to defend the run and shows good recognition in coverage. Quick up the field, wraps up at the point of attack and brings ball carriers down on contact. Effectively picks up his assignments in center field, shows excellent recognition and has an explosive closing burst.
Neg:
Went from playmaker to part-time defender over the past year-and-a-half due to injury. Lacks great lateral range. Minimally productive last season.
Analysis:
Andrews was besieged by injury after a tremendous freshman campaign and was never the same player. At the top of his game, he displayed himself to have legitimate starting potential for the next level, but he may struggle making it out of camp this summer.
