Bio:
Two-year starter who tied for the team lead with three interceptions in 2015 to go with 83 tackles and two pass breakups. Made 86 tackles with one interception and two PBUs as a junior.
Pos:
Underrated safety prospect who surprised many by entering the draft. Athletic, displays speed in both a straight line as well as laterally and moves well in every direction of the field. Quickly makes his way up the field defending the run, wraps up tackling and strong at the point. Displays range in coverage, solid ball skills and plays with a fierce style. To his credit remains disciplined with assignments yet plays with a nasty attitude.
Neg:
Does not time well in the 40. Average production against the pass.
Analysis:
Nicholson was a force the past two years for the Michigan State defense and possesses the size, skill and upside to start at the next level. We may be overrating him as a middle round choice but believe with proper coaching he’ll be playing with the first unit on Sunday.
